Hue Art Works was founded in 2015 by Debbie Winkles after a long and successful career in art education. Indeed, Debbie taught art for 30 years, primarily in Frederick County, Maryland, where she taught beginning and advanced levels of Drawing and Painting, Ceramics, Photography, Commercial Art, Computer Graphics, as well as Advanced Placement Art History and Studio Art. She also taught in the Urbana High School International Baccalaureate Program and served as the advisor for the award-winning Urbana High School yearbook, The Odyssey. She has shared her passion for art and art history with thousands of high school students. In 2012, Debbie received the Washington Post Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award for Frederick County, which recognizes teachers who exemplify excellence in their profession. In addition, Debbie has been recognized for Outstanding Service in the Field of Art Education from the Maryland Art Education Association and for Excellence in Teaching from the Chamber of Commerce of Frederick County. Debbie holds a B.A. in Art from the University of Delaware and an M.A. in Liberal Arts from McDaniel College. Her art has been exhibited at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center in Frederick.
Through Debbie's education, teaching experience, and personal exploration, she has developed skills in a wide range of techniques and styles. She has a deep understanding of color, rhythm, and space.
